Use cases

Windows 365 integrations with Copilot in Intune are intended to help IT administrators working with Cloud PCs to better understand performance, cost savings opportunities, and utilization of their investments in Windows in Cloud.

Key intended use cases include:

  • Cloud PC Performance Optimization: Copilot helps you identify potential areas for performance improvement by providing recommendations for Cloud PC resizing to optimize user experience. It also provides detailed analysis and actionable recommendations for optimizing Cloud PC resource usage.

  • User Experience Improvements: Copilot summarizes connectivity issues (e.g., high latency or jitter) and provides insights into whether they’re systemic or isolated to a set of Cloud PCs or regions. It offers insights on latency (round-trip time), dropped connections, bandwidth, and UDP utilization at a regional level. Flexible reporting options allow you to focus on summary information, trending patterns, or status. You can identify whether metrics are improving, deteriorating, or remaining static, enabling proactive monitoring of connection quality trends and resolution of regional performance issues.

  • License Optimization: Copilot identifies unused devices to help you optimize licenses and reduce Windows 365 costs. Copilot provides comprehensive analysis of Cloud PC usage patterns and license utilization across an organization. Copilot helps you analyze usage metrics, connection history, and creation date information to identify underutilized resources. It offers both detailed device-level reporting and organization-wide summaries to help you identify underutilized resources. Copilot provides fixed prompts that summarize device type, usage categories, and deployment age. License reallocation opportunities are inferred from usage metrics—Copilot analyzes device-level usage (e.g., no usage, low usage) and flags licenses tied to inactive or underused Cloud PCs. This helps you identify candidates for reallocation.

  • Cloud PC Management Assistance: Copilot identifies provisioning policy and license issues, including causes for Cloud PCs entering grace period. Copilot provides in-depth diagnostics and resolution guidance for Cloud PCs that are in grace period or are not yet provisioned. It performs automated diagnostics based on system error codes and provisioning metadata. For grace period troubleshooting, it includes critical information about grace period end dates and potential data loss. It also supports both bulk analysis (up to 10 devices at once) and target troubleshooting for individual Cloud PCs or specific users. Results include detailed explanations and direct links to remediation resources for you to resolve the identified issues efficiently.
