The Windows SideShow team had a session at PDC, where we discussed how to build gadgets for Windows SideShow (formerly called Auxiliary Displays). Dan walked through the code for a conference schedule application in C++ that demonstrated how to extend an existing application to show data on Windows SideShow. With the schedule application extended to Windows SideShow, I can look up the details of each session that I want to attend even when my PC is off.
